Happy Friday BFFs! We made it! The cool thing about having a blog is that you have full control of what you do with it! I've decided to add a fun new segment to my blog called 'Kimberly's Fave" and as you might guess, it will feature items that I absolutely adore. This can be anything from makeup and skincare products to clothing and jewelry.
The NYX Matte Liquid Liner is the first item to start off the 'Kimberly's Fave' segment. Let me tell you about this little treasure and why it is at the top of my list!
I used to be horrible at creating winged eyeliner looks. We are talking raccoon-city! No joke! I would always end up with smudged eyes and kept having to remove the line and add a new one, only to remove that disaster too. Then, in hopes to make life easier, I decided that maybe I should try different types and brands of liquid eyeliner. Things got a little better and I found some eyeliners that were okay, but I was still struggling to create beautiful even smudge-free lines. I look at old videos of myself attempting to line my eyes and cannot believe that at the time, I thought I was doing a fabulous job. Long story short, after spending way too many dollars on all types of liquid liners, including many high-end brands, I stumbled upon the NYX Matte Liquid Liner during one of my never-ending strolls through the ULTA store. I decided to try it and never looked back!!!!
Things I Love about this Eyeliner:
It dries in a beautiful matte-black shade (I've always preferred a matte look for liner).
It's super easy to build up the thickness of a line/wing.
It doesn't crumble after it dries, and once dry, you can easily apply more over it for instance to go from a daytime to nighttime look.
The skinny brush makes it effortless to aim for that area directly above your eyelashes.
Every stroke of the brush deposits product. You don't have to constantly go over the same area just to see a line.
It's super affordable and I've seen it for less than $6.00 on the NYX website.
This is a super simple day time look I created with the NYX liner. I just applied the liner to the top of my eyelid and kept the tail of the wing super short. I applied a light purple/pink lipstick shade to keep the overall look light.
Here is a night time wing I created with the NYX liner. This was created right after the daytime look above. I simply extended the tail of the wing and applied some more pressure so the eyeliner above the eyelid became thicker. The longer and thicker the eyeliner is, the more dramatic your look will be. I paired this look with a dark vampy lip.
For special occasions or when you really want to stand our, get creative with the NYX Matte Liner. This liner is so simple to use that making a design like the one in the photo below is easy. I extended the inner corner of the wing, thickened the line as a whole and added two lines below the original eyeliner art. For extra sparkle, I added some NYX Face and Body Glitter in the color Gunmetal.
If you decide that you want to try the NYX Matte Liquid Liner, make sure that the tube you get is sealed shut with plastic. Sometimes, tubes get opened in the store and the brush can get frayed. When that happens, you will have a hard, frustrating time trying to create that beautiful line. If you do buy a tube that is not sealed, check the brush tip if you can to make sure that it has a nice pointy look to it. If it does, I am sure that you will come to love this liner too.
Have you used the NYX Matte Liquid Liner before? If so, do you agree with me or did you experience it differently? Tell me about your eyeliner issues. I'm curious to hear.
